Sacrament of Baptism

Baptism for Infants and Children through Age 6

Requirements:

To prepare for the Sacrament of Baptism, parents and godparents must attend a Baptismal Preparation class. These classes are usually offered on the third Saturday morning of each month, in the church.

This class will help those who attend, to deepen their understanding of the role parents and godparents play in the religious formation of the child and deepen your knowledge of the Sacrament of Baptism.

Please contact Rachel Allid to register for this class.

Baptism for Children 7 Years and Above

Children 7 years and older have reached the “age of reason,” and are therefore able to come to at least a basic understanding of their faith. Because of this, it is important that they receive two years of faith formation to prepare them to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, and any other Sacraments of Initiation (Eucharist, Confirmation).

Children who have not received formal instruction in the faith from a Catholic School or Parish are invited to join our Religious Education program to prepare for Baptism. We will typically register a child for our regular RE program for their first year, and for their second year, they will join a sacramental preparation group with other children in their same situation (RCIC or Rite of Christian Initiation for Children). High school-aged youth will be evaluated on an individual basis.

To register your child for the Religious Education program, please contact The Office of Faith Formation.

Baptism for Adults (18+)

Adults seeking baptism into the Catholic Church are invited to attend the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). The RCIA is a group for adults who want to learn more about the Catholic faith, and are considering joining the Catholic Church by preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Communion/Eucharist, and Confirmation). We invite you to contact our RCIA Director, Deacon Sal Campagna, about learning more about our program.
